Halloween has arrived in Manufacturing!

Halloween Fun!

The Villa of Hope School Tech class has been learning all about wood working tools and techniques. They have a wide variety of pumpkins and other fall themed items for sale in the tech room. Be sure to check the items out and consider a purchase. All proceeds go back into the program to offer additional items such as these throughout the school year. What better way to decorate and celebrate than with a hand made item from our tech class students. School Pride!

Come From Away…RBTL Musical

Arriving in Rochester this November!

Ms. Rowley and Ms. Eagley have been working on a unit in ELA that aligns to the upcoming Broadway musical, Come From Away. The students have been studying the musical script, music, and storyline…reading several books and articles. In addition, they reached out to our Villa of Hope Agency employees asking them to share their stories…Where were you on 9/11/2001?

Mr. Waller shared that he was in 10th grade, in 2nd period math, 4th from the front on the left side of the room…and will remember the location on this tragic day, forever!

Lisa Roi, watching it on TV, thought to herself…”Is this real or a movie.”

Danielle Roque shared that she was in the 11th grade. She remembers it being a gorgeous day in Rochester. As she heard the news in math class…there were lots of tears, screams, and crying, along with prayers.

Mrs. Caley was homeschooling her two daughters at the time. She remembers turning on the TV and watching together, noting that it would be a bit scary to watch and comprehend. They eventually went out for a walk with their dog to help ease the day after watching the events on this tragic day in history.

Mr. Hartman was a junior in college. He remembers coming together as a nation, and that people were being helpful and kind to each other.

Jennifer Speorl was in her first year of college. Her Father was working at the Villa on this day and shared with Jennifer that he stayed late to help the Villa of Hope youth process their feelings and ensuring safety. There were candlelight vigils and prayers everywhere that evening, creating a sense of pride to be an American.

These are just a few of the many stories shared with our students as they plan and prepare to see the musical in November. Thank you to RBTL for partnering with Villa of Hope School to bring the power of theatre and storytelling to life!

Football Unit

Thank you to St. John Fisher for hosting our Field Trip!

On Thursday, October 17, 2019, our students and staff visited St. John Fisher College’s athletic Department. They met with the Fisher Football staff and players, had a tour of the locker rooms and stadium, and they had the opportunity to play flag football in the student life center. The students shared their experience and look forward to another visit during basketball season.

Blood Drive

Thank you to our donors!

The Villa of Hope School’s Work Based Learning Program sponsored an annual blood drive today, October 24, 2019. We thank our students and staff who participated, and a special thank you to our student volunteers who helped make this year’s blood drive a huge success.

Saving lives matters…and Villa of Hope School is making a difference!

No School!

No School on Friday, staff professional development day!

No School on Monday, Columbus Day!

Have a good weekend, see you on Tuesday!

Thank You!

Thank you to our students, families, and staff who attended our Villa of Hope School Open House on Thursday, October 3, 2019. It was so nice to meet many of our families, to see our students take great pride in their school, and introducing their family to the staff. There was an energy, excitement, and positive atmosphere this evening that continues to amaze me. Our Villa of Hope School is a special place, with remarkable students, talented staff, and supportive families. Thank you all!
